Yard Man

Story:

If you think this is about God, then you are right.

Lyrics:

                                            YARD MAN

                                                                         (ALA: MOTERHEADS ACE OF SPADES)

                                                              By: JOSE DIAZ-5-15-2009-6:08AM-5-16-2009-6:53PM

(V-1)

We deviated from the plan, followed the whim of our own hand,

Created war and genocide, sullied this place that He designed,

Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord, but some of us still think it’s ours

That sound you hear is his sword, He’s coming now to clean the yard

(V-2)

This pool of life’s our only card, we’ve played it wrong for way too far

A thief is coming in the night, and he will surely set it right

Bear your soul don’t try to hide, He comes from somewhere deep inside

That sound you hear is his sword, He’s coming now to clean the yard

He’s coming now to clean the yard,

He’s coming now to clean the yard

He’s coming now to clean the yard,

He’s coming now to clean the yard

(Bridge/Lead)

(V-3)

Scream all you want it sound absurd, it’s gonna be worse than you heard

Bury your faces in your hands, or face what you cannot withstand

Kickin’ and screaming all the way, you played the game it’s time to pay

That sound you hear is his sword, He’s coming now to clean the yard

He’s coming now to clean the yard,

He’s coming now to clean the yard

He’s coming now to clean the yard,

He’s coming now to clean the yard

Not Alone

Story:

This one is a dark and moody lament for the human race. It revolves lightly around the voyager spacecraft that is by now out of the local solar system. Who or what will find our message, and when?

Lyrics:

NOT ALONE

By: Jose’ Luis Diaz-7-19-2009-11:27pm-7-20-2009-12:03am

(V-1)

We slammed the door on forever, when we brought the future home

Yesterday, evaporated, we were better off stoned

We set our sights too loosely, now we might not have the time

To push replay, to save the day, it’s the end of the line

(Chorus)

By the time they get the message, no one will be home

By the time they play the record, we will be long gone

I pray they realize, what’s been going on

For just a little while, they were not alone

(V-2)

All the prophets have agreed, when the end will bring us down

They picked a date, we’ll learn to hate, there’s nothing more profound

We can wallow in denial, we can argue our case

But in the end, we can’t pretend, we deserve another taste

(Bridge-1)

The deadliest of toys, the power to destroy

The speciescide runs deep inside, like Achilles there at Troy

The power to become, a better everyone

Instead we lay, ourselves to waste, we silence our own drum

(Bridge-2)

Maybe some day, far, far away

Our plight, will stop some race, from making the same mistake

(Chorus Here)

Angels Start To Frown

Lyrics:

ANGELS START TO FROWN

By: Jose’ Luis Diaz-12-2-2009-7:00PM-12-6-2009-7:45PM

(V-1)

There you are, far, away

The silence, the distance, the pain like a blade

Is this winter, here to stay

The snow we’re beholding, might not go away

(Chorus-1)

If my name roll off your lips

And I’m not there to hear

Does it still make a sound

Do the angels start to frown

((V-2)

Here I am, far, away

I’m dreaming, I’m screaming, my heart on display

Here we are, for today

We’re dreaming, we’re screaming, we’re fading away

(Chorus-2)

If your name rolls off my lips

And you’re not there to hear

Does it still make a sound

Do the angels start to frown

(Bridge)

The angels, are straining

Their chorus, refraining

The stain-glass, is raining

The sky is complaining

I’ll scream for you, will you scream for me

Clouds in cathedrals, but clearly we see

(Chorus-1 here)

(Chorus-2 here)

(Lead out)

Scratch The Surface

That Day

Story:

These lyrics were written just after the Columbine tragedy. They came from the heart and I really felt them all the way thru. From one evening and into the next morning, with a night of sleep in between, the emotions held strong. I had then, as even now, an emmense sypathy for everyone involved.

Lyrics:

                            THAT DAY

                                                       By: Jose’ Luis Diaz-4/17/2007-5:25pm-4/18/2007-11:10am

5:25pm

They need to stop looking, for someone to blame

It’s so clear to see, that man went insane

So family and friends, gather around

Say a few good words, for those shot down,

That day--------------(hold)

6:15pm

Let’s look in the eyes, of those who survived

Look in their hearts, deep down inside

We know this pain, we can’t re-arrange

Let’s give them the time, to turn away from,

That day---------------(hold)

(CHORUS)

Every day,

Is a step away,

Farther away,

From that day.

11:10am

Too many questions, will do them no good

A shoulder to lean on, the least that they need

Fingers are pointed, that just makes it worse

Hold back the press, just let them breathe

(Chorus here)

Nu Nostalgia

Story:

This instrumental was the result of thinking about how tones can be used to convey emotions. The overall emotion I was going for was of course an old feeling. Look back into your own past as you listen and remember things. People, places, situations, sights, sounds, smells, whatever is worth remembering is worth feeling nostalgic about.

Set

Story:

Here's a little bluesy tune that marks my very first recording with a nice Fender guitar. It tells a sad story of love found and lost amongst the waves. Yes, the title is a surf term for a collection of waves.

Lyrics:

                                               SET

                                                                     By: JOSE DIAZ-3-25-2009-6:28?-3-26-2009-4:31PM

                                                     (I)

I caught the wave with you, we were in the tube

Seemed like forever, I thought it’d never end

The sun the sea and us, it felt like so much

Remember all you can, we may never ride again

                                                    (II)

We stopped the world its true, turned our passions loose

Sweet night endeavors, when nothing could do us in

The joy of what we found, never touching ground

So take it to the grave, could it have worked if you stayed

                                             (III-Bridge)

We became who we are,

Our wave crashed into shore

We drowned in the sand,

You pushed away my hand

I paddled out into the dawn,

But the good waves were all gone

                                                   (IV)

I left the beach today, there weren’t any waves

The ocean felt dead, just like the dream in my head

                                                    (V)

I thought it would never end, when nothing could do us in

We rode our set to the end, we will never ride again

                                             (Lead Out)

Moment Of Truth

Story:

A very good friend had his life turned upside down and his tragedy inspired these lyrics. He has a couple of disabilities that he has had to learn to live with and the chorus reflects upon several human disabilities. That friend is one of the hardest working people I have ever met and how things happened to him is something I would not even wish upon enemies.

Lyrics:

                                   MOMENT OF TRUTH

                                                                  By: JOSE LUIS DIAZ-2-13-2009-1:03PM-1:26PM

(Chorus)

The blind man scans the stars

The mute man sings a song

The deaf man hears the music

That the cripple man dances to

 The moment of truth

(V-1)

Way---H back in yesterday, a days labor a days pay

The sweat on your back, simple fact

Food on the table, pillow under head

A mans word was all he had

Now look how quickly man forgets

(Chorus Here)

(V-2)

Lawyers, politics, black and white smear into grey

Although you read its legalese

It’s all an act, to stab you in the back

They twist the blade several ways

Can you forgive them and forget?

(Bridge)

Forked and silver, many tongues

Laying waste to everyone

Change the rules in the game

Lead you right into the flames

(Chorus Here)

(Lead Out)

Stay

Story:

This is a lament for a loved one on their death-bed. I know my favorite muse may well have to leave someday and that loss will be extremely emotional and painful. This song was my attempt to deal with that future loss long before it actually occures.

Lyrics:

                                                   STAY

                                                                          By: JOSE’ DIAZ-4-17-2009-2:48PM-3:15PM

(Chorus)

I’m gonna hold you close, and listen to you breathe

I hope you dream we dance, along to your heartbeat

We’ll let the stars roll by, across a velvet sky

All things will be set right, just make it thru this night

(V-1)

All the doctors leave, with their heads low

The machines just beep, all soft and low

You take a breath, you almost sigh

The stage is set, this must play out

As I hold your hand, it feels like ice

And your eyes are closed, in peace tonight

(Chorus here)

(V-2)

My mind replays, those wonder years

The way we laughed, the taste of tears

The storms we rode, the highs we reached

The dreams we lived, the walls we breached

(Bridge)

The words you said run thru my head

I hold back tears I fight off fears

Stay with me baby, stay with me baby,

Stay with me baby, stay------------------------H baby!

(Chorus here)

Stay-------------------------------H

Forever Wont Stand By

Story:

This is the complete original lyric for the song. I whittled away at it during the recording until I felt comfortable.

What I'm alluding to is the fact that many people who rise above who they are and attain status, noteriety, or even fame, tend to change from who they originally were into someone else. There is always a need to look back and realise who we are or were. The future will not wait for us to make corrections. We must make the best of it and always strive to be the best that we can be.

Lyrics:

                               FOREVER WON’T STAND BY

                                                                      By: Jose’ Diaz-1-23-2008-5:35am-1-24-2008-11:30am

(I)

How good is good, how mean is mean

Do you forgive or just forget

(Do/can) you recall your worst regrets

How true is true, how sad is sad

How crafty are your lies

Do you accept or just despise

How far to fall, how much means that’s all

Do you refuse though you lose

Do you give in and let them win

(Pre-1)

You have spread your wings, as far as you could

You aim for the stars, but it seems to do no good

You’re bending in the wind, as the storm settles in

The lightening fills the sky, as the days pass you by

(II)

How gainful is gain, how painful is pain

Have you been giving your best, this is life and not a test

How high can you climb, how deep can you reach

Look inside and you will see, you were born with all you need

(Pre-2)

You have lived your life, as best as you could

You’ve carried yourself far, like you always dreamed you would

(Chorus)

But forever won’t stand by---------------H
