INNOCENCE By Jose Diaz 9-22-04

Well I remember as a little boy, my Christmases were full of toys
Thanksgiving days were full of grace, sleep was good because I felt safe
She remembers when there were no toys, what little there was just didn’t fill the void
Mom and dad would fight, all night, what made her strong was her hard life

We all know what went wrong, now the innocence is gone

I remember sermons I slept thru, in my Grandmas’ arms it all rang true
The pastors voice and all that he said, spun dreams inside of this little boys head
She remembers all the good and bad, always saving mom from dear old dad
They were proud to be a family then, though it blew apart straight into the wind

We all know what went wrong, now the innocence is gone

The past is there if you want to look back, but if you look too hard it can be a trap
You can see how bad the cards were stacked, if youd’ve known it then youd’ve changed your act
The future calls but who will make it there, cause life is easy or unfair
Have faith in God let him lead you on, when it’s time to go he will call you home

We all know what went wrong, now the innocence is gone

WHEN SHE’S ASLEEP By: Jose’ Luis Diaz
(V-1)
She frowns in her sleep, sometimes she even weeps
But I never hear her speak, when she’s asleep
(Lead guitar here)
(V-2)
I hope some night, she speaks in her sleep
And has some thing to say about me, when she’s asleep(hold last note through octaves to falsetto) (Lead guitar from”when” in above line)
(V-3)
Last night, I heard her speak
And she called out in her sleep, for me
(Outro)
O O OO O O
When she’s asleep
When she’s asleep
When she’s asleep
When she’s asleep
O O OO O O
I don’t want to wake her up
I don’t want to wake her up
This is what dreams are made of
(Decelerado ending)

YOU MAKE ME FEEL YOUNG By: Jose’ Luis Diaz
(V-1)
We were half a world apart, When we were born, yeah nineteen-sixty-five, had only just begun
(V-2)
By the summer of our lives, we still had not met, we may have passed in high-school halls, it wasn’t our time yet, we were becoming, who we are today, never slowing down, through those leaps and bounds
(PRE-CHORUS-1)
If you measure life in seasons, we all start in the spring, summer gets us through our teens, in fall we loose some steam, winters’ when we reminisce, on seasons in the past, and finally we realize, that life’s not meant to last
(CHORUS)
But you make me feel young
As if I’ve become
A teenager once again
You make me feel young
You make me feel young
These winter years are so much fun
With you it’s always summertime
You make me feel young
(V-3)
Here we are late in fall, winter soon begins, I wouldn’t trade these years with you, for anywhere or any when
(PRE-CHORUS-2)
But, if you measure life in seasons, we all start in the springtime, summer gets us through our teens, in fall we loose some steam, winters when we reminisce, on seasons in the past, and finally we realize, that lifes not meant to last
(CHORUS HERE)
(GUITAR LEAD)
You make me feel young, you make me feel young, you make me feel young, you make me feel young

THE SQUARE ROOT OF LOVE By: Jose’ Luis Diaz
(CHORUS)
If I never see you again, it will be too soon, when what we had burned down, I nearly died in the fumes

And infinity, ain’t long enough to see, That the square root of love is, you were never good to me
(V-1)
You won’t listen now, you just don’t know how
Your just wasted time, and a waste of a mind
You’ll never grow up, and you ain’t so tuff
I’ve heard what you do, but I always knew
And (CHORUS HERE)
(V-2)
Here we are, after coming so far
We got through so much, with no special touch
So many years, so many tears
You gave up, you gave up
And (CHORUS HERE)
(V-3)
Way back then, well that was sin
We were young, and oh so dumb
We gave in, we gave in
Blood!, and sweat!, for these regrets
(CHORUS-2)
And if I never see you again, it will be too soon, when what we had burned down, I nearly died in the flames!

And infinity, aint long enough to see, that the square root of love is, you were never there for me

This is by no means the deepest I can go into religon. I'm a southern baptist at heart who hope God will forgive him for straying so far away from church. But, I'll always remember where I came from.
BOTTOMING OUT? 8/12/04 6:39P.M. Jose’ Diaz
(V-1)
Now I wake up every morning, Peel myself right out of bed
And halfway thru my working day, I’m wishing I was dead
I pray to God to take me, I feel I must move on
I hear his voice inside, He tells me that I’m wrong
Not everyone’s a dreamer, Not everyone’s a saint
But everyone you’ll ever meet, Has got my son to thank
(CHORUS-1)
I’ve bottomed out a hundred times, In a lot of the things that I’ve done
But I thank the Lord that I got thru, this thing that my life has become, this thing my life’s become
(V-2)
Now sometimes when I’m lonely, And I feel my life’s too deep
I just kick back and relax, And let my problems steep
I can see serenity is something that I’ll always need,
Courage can play a mean guitar, and wisdom can sing the lead
I’m every bit of a dreamer I’ve never been a saint
And to everyone that I learned from, Well I extend my thanks
(CHORUS-2)
I’ve bottomed out a thousand times, In a lot of the things that I’ve done
I know the lord will get me thru , this thing that thing my life has become, this thing my life has become
(V-3)
I wont be the next one, To catch the devils train

I wont be the next one, I swear upon my name

I wont be the next one,Yeah suicide is lame
(lead)
(CHORUS-2 HERE)
(LEAD)
Don’t you dare go out that way!
(lead)
We love you all!, Come on!, Can you feel the Son?!
(fade out long)

Instumental
Note. There is a 30 minute version of this. I did it for a friend who loves JAZZ.
NOBODY WINS By: Jose’ Luis Diaz
(V-1)
I drug myself one-hundred miles back home, I thought she’d still be there but she was gone
The skies were still on fire, I abandoned my desires, and cried

I made contact with generals underground, they said there was no way I could come down
My mind was so unclear, and my metal boot were full, of tears
(CHORUS)
Some one stands alone again
Though the war is over
Nobody wins
(V-2)
The snow fell from the sky like cotton balls, the temperature went way past freezing all
The east and west were one, I looked, but couldn’t find the sun
(CHORUS HERE)
(V-3)
When the sun returned it brought the rain, my life support was next to fully drained
On a lonely hill I stood, I was frozen there, for good
(CHORUS-HERE)
(LEAD)
Nobody wins, nobody wins, nobody wins
(All wind effects and whistles are performed vocally by: Jose’ Luis Diaz)
